Within these teams, Design and Structural Engineers design structures for optimum transport, ensuring the cargo is safely supported and secured during the ocean voyage. This is partly done through sophisticated computer simulations.</p>
<p>Mission:<br />
The (Lead) Structural Engineer designs and calculates steel structures as well as verifying the strength of complete transport arrangements to ensure safe execution of the project. He, or she, provides “up-to-date” engineering advice and support to the projects and assists in the development and improvement of structural engineering methods, tools and equipment.<br />
Responsibilities:<br />
•	Responsible for coordination and alignment of working methods, tools and systems<br />
•	Contribute in the preparation of projects, as well as various R&#038;D projects<br />
•	Contribute actively in the quality control within the Structural Engineering department<br />
•	Report to the Manager Engineering and support with development, implementation and maintenance of business processes<br />
•	Guide and develop (Junior/Medior/Senior) Structural Engineers<br />
•	Answer enquiries needed for a successful acquisitions process or project<br />
•	Responsible for strength check of vessel and cargo and additional structural items<br />
•	Prepare transports/installations and have documents checked and approved<br />
•	Assist in the development and improvement of structural engineering tools and methods<br />
•	Provide engineering advice and support to other disciplines as well as external parties</p>
<p>Requirements:<br />
•	Completed Bachelor or higher in the field of naval architecture/aerospace engineering<br />
•	At least 5 years of relevant experience, with a focus on structural engineering<br />
•	Experience with FEA methods and understanding of structural design principles<br />
•	Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, Dutch would be an advantage.</p>
